With remarkable growth in and around Charleston, South Carolina, SCE&G completed their SEE Award Winning Cainhoy Transmission upgrade to accommodate load growth and improve grid reliability. In addition to building a new 230 kV substation, SCE&G also upgraded a number of 115 and 230 kV lines using different conductor types – including ACCC Conductor. The three year project included two major river crossings and several miles of marsh areas where work was performed using barges. SCE&G’s technical and operations achievements – delivered on time and on budget – will provide more robust and reliable service to the growing Mount Pleasant and Charleston area.
